Theatre Users Committee
The theatre users committee promotes a working partnership between the theatre staff and its medical users and addresses the following issues:

- Bookings
- Concerns of users
- Incidents
- Instrumentation/CSSD
- Late finishes
- Session utilisation
- Staffing
- Standards
- Critical Care
ITU or HDU should be booked in advance for patients who you expect to require critical care. We recommend booking in advance if your patient will be undergoing a long procedure or is indicated as high risk due to their past medical history. However our unit is fully supported at all times for planned and unplanned admissions. If your patient is in for a long stay their care must be co-ordinated by a lead clinician, we are able to call case conferences for their planned and managed patient care.
We have the equipment to support Level 3 ITU/HDU needs, including two dedicated HDU beds and three flexible ITU beds; these can also be used for HDU. Patients in need of renal replacement therapy would need to be transferred to the Harley Street Clinic. All our beds are fully monitored and linked to a central monitor located at a nursing observation station.
Staffing / Medical Cover
- Full establishment of highly experience ITU nurses support the unit.
- 24 hour cover by an ITU Fellow on-call rota. This rota is shared with the King Edward VII, Harley Street Clinic, London Clinic. The fellows are of a Senior Registrar Grade and during their on-call hours they are based at the Princess Grace Hospital. The ITU fellow will visit the unit daily whilst your patient is in.
- We also have the services of an on-call Consultant Intensivist provided by a rota of 4 Consultants with a Lead Clinician.
- Please note, it is a requirement of the National Minimum Care Standards that the responsible consultant visits the patient twice daily as a minimum.
