Diane Back

Biography

Miss Back is a Lower Limb Reconstructive Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and The Princess Grace Hospital.

She is also Orthopaedic Training Programme Director for South London and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at King's College, London University.

She graduated from University College London, with a BSc in Immunology and MB BS.

Her orthopaedic surgical training was on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, rotating through University College Hospital, The Royal Free and Great Ormond Street. Specialist primary and revision hip and knee surgery was further enhanced with a Fellowship in Australia and visits to Switzerland and the USA.

Her current scope of work includes general trauma on both lower and upper limb, hip replacement, knee replacement, revision knee surgery and forefoot surgery.

Miss Back has published and presented extensively on hip and knee surgery and continues to be actively involved in knee implant development. Her current research is centred around arthritis associated with bleeding disorders and improving the outcomes for this group pf patients.

She works with her colleagues to provide a culturally sensitive service for those who would prefer to be treated in a female only environment if it is clinically appropriate.
