The Princess Grace Hospital and our Urgent Care Centre are proud to support the NFL during the 2016 International Series. As well as providing pitch side medical cover before, during and after the games, our support extends to the teams and their families throughout their stay in the UK.

The doctors we have on hand during the games are:

Professor Fares Haddad is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in lower limb surgery. Professor Haddad started his training in hip and knee surgery on the St Bartholomew's, Royal Free and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital rotations and this was later enhanced by fellowship training in the United States and Canada. He is Director of the Institute of Sport Exercise and Health and provides medical input at elite level for a number of sports including football, athletics, rugby, boxing and martial arts.

Mr Sam Oussedik is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery as well as trauma surgery. He works from his NHS bases as well as The Princess Grace Hospital and our Institute of Sport Exercise and Health. After studying medicine at St Bartholomew’s medical college, Mr Oussedik completed his basic surgical training at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He spent a large proportion of his post-graduate training in the field of knee surgery and so decided to spend a year at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney as Knee Fellow to further this training. During this time he gained highly specialised experience in all aspects of knee and lower limb surgery, specifically focusing on the latest techniques for joint replacements and knee reconstruction following sports injuries.

Mr Ian Sabin is a Consultant Neurosurgeon whose special interests include head injury. Mr Sabin studied medicine at Dundee University, qualifying in 1981, before becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1986.

Mr Carlos Cobiella is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in upper limb surgery whose special interests include sports injuries. Mr Cobiella grew up in Spain and graduated from Medical School at the Universidad Autonoma in Madrid before moving to London where he completed his basic surgical training and then began training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. Mr Cobiella enjoys all aspects of Shoulder and Elbow surgery, including the treatment of Sports injuries, arthritis and fractures and has a vast interest in arthroscopic procedures. He is a faculty member in several Arthroscopic and Sports Injury Surgery courses, both nationally and internationally.

Dr Anil Patel is a Consultant Anaesthetist whose special interests include emergency airway management. Dr Patel graduated from the University of London before training in anaesthesia at various London hospitals. He was appointed Consultant Anaesthetist at The Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University College London in 1999.

Dr Anil Visram is an Anaesthetist working from both his NHS bases and The Spine Surgery London, whose special interests include neuroanaesthesia. His postgraduate training was in London at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, The Royal London Hospital and The Royal Free Hospital and he conducted his research training in Hong Kong and Australia. Dr Visram obtained his fellowship in neuroanaesthesia from the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Brisbane, Australia.

Mr Peter Hamlyn is a Consultant Neurological and Spinal Surgeon whose specialities include sports injuries with particular interest on head injuries in sport. Mr Peter Hamlyn graduated with a BSc in Neuroscience before going on to qualify with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from University College London in 1982. He then completed a Medical Doctorate and undertook further neurosurgical training at The Royal London Hospital and Bart's and the London NHS trust. Mr Hamlyn was awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Sport Medicine for his work in the field of head injury in sport and he was a member of the 2012 Olympic Bid Advisory Panel. He has also worked as a Medical Advisor to a number of organisations including the British Olympic Association, British Boxing Board of Control, The Jockey Club of Great Britain, UK Sport, Royal Ballet, GB Rowing Team, and England Rugby. Mr Hamlyn works in conjunction with a number of elite level sports teams and their players, including numerous premier league football and rugby clubs.
