The Princess Grace Hospital offers screening services designed to detect a variety of health issues.
Women’s and men’s health screening
Comprehensive health check-ups can be of great benefit to men and women. Health screens are tailor-made according to the needs of each patient and reflect their age, lifestyle, allergies, pre-existing conditions and family history. We also offer bowel cancer screening to detect colorectal polyps and bowel cancers at the earliest stage possible.
A female health screen begins with an in-depth consultation with your doctor, during which your pre-appointment questionnaire will be evaluated, blood tests taken, a comprehensive female-specific examination offered and an ECG performed. Afterwards, your doctor may recommend additional tests, including those for breast cancer, osteoporosis, cardiovascular issues, colon cancer and gynaecological problems.
Our health screens for men begin with a full medical examination and investigation, followed by blood and urine tests, to give a baseline assessment of health status. As you get older, you can also take advantage of other screening services, including those for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, diabetes and bladder cancer.
Bowel cancer and rectal bleeding clinics
Bowel cancer, also known as colorectal cancer, is the third most common cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer death, in the UK. However, if found and treated in the early stages, it is one of the most curable forms of cancer with a cure rate after surgery of 90% when caught early.
Most bowel cancers arise from polyps. Most commonly, screening for bowel cancer involves a colonoscopy to identify and remove polyps at the time of the procedure before they progress to cancer. A colonoscopy can also detect early cancers. Alternative bowel cancer screening methods include a flexible sigmoidoscopy, CT colonography/virtual colonoscopy and faecal occult blood test (FOBT).
Bowel cancer screening is offered at the Endoscopy Centre and Rectal Bleeding Clinic at The Princess Grace Hospital. At our Rectal Bleeding Clinic, our highly experienced specialist consultants investigate and treat all aspects of rectal bleeding and bowel disease.
When you use the health screening service at The Princess Grace Hospital, you will benefit from:
- Access to first-class doctors, highly qualified specialists and cutting-edge facilities
- Rapid referral if abnormalities are detected during your examination
