Services

Gynaecology

Central to our approach to women’s health is a breadth of specialist expertise and support services for the range of major and minor disorders affecting the female reproductive system. Our consultant gynaecologists are available to advise women on all aspects of their health, including fertility issues, IVF, contraception, gynaecological problems or difficulties associated with the menopause.

The Princess Grace Hospital is able to offer the full range of women’s health procedures, from minor outpatient procedures such as colposcopy and loop diathermy, through day case investigations and minimally invasive therapeutic procedures such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and tension fee vaginal sling procedures to major inpatient surgery. We strive to ensure that we maintain a professional yet relaxed and friendly environment designed to put our patients at ease.

Many of our consultants have sub specialist training enabling them to offer the most up-to-date treatment in benign gynaecology, reproductive medicine and fertility, gynaecological endocrinology, urogynaecology and gynaecological oncology. If they feel you would do better in the hands of one of their colleagues they would not hesitate to refer you to one, some of whom are recognised as being world leaders in some of the conditions they treat

Amongst other skills, some of our consultants are experts in laser surgery which offers less invasive surgery with faster recovery times. A number of different lasers are available, although the Holmium laser system is beneficial over other types of laser systems because it has a shallower penetration depth, meaning that there is less damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. Additionally it is highly absorbed by water meaning that the energy is reduced when working in a wet environment and this further reduces the damage to the surrounding tissue.

This laser system can be used to treat condylomas, which are infections of the genitals, such as genital warts.  These can be treated either topically by the use of a cream or by ablation to remove the physical tissue. Ablation can be conducted through cryotherapy, excision, electrosurgery or laser surgery.  There are many benefits to using Holmium laser over topical treatment or other types of ablation treatments, including:

  • Reduced bleeding
  • No scarring
  • Reduced swelling
  • Higher efficiency than traditional treatment

For more information about surgery using the Holmium laser or to book an appointment please contact us on 020 7079 4344.
