Some Sensible Precautions
Whilst there are no formal restrictions on the patient’s activities when they return home, we suggest they they comply with the following guidelines for a period of two months after the operation, for the patient’s and their family’s piece of mind.
- Women who are (or may be) pregnant should not sit very close to the patient, on the same settee for example. Apart from this there is no need for the patient to treat them any differently as to how they would have done before having the implant. The patient may greet them as they normally would and they may stay in the same room as the patient for as long as they wish.
- The patient should not nurse children on their lap or sit very close to them for long periods of time (as above). The patient may cuddle or hold them for a few minutes each day and they may stay in the same room as the patient for as long as they wish.
There is no need to place any restriction on the time the patient spends, or activities they undertake with other family members, friends or colleagues.
