Quality & Clinical Governance

Maintaining quality

Our main priorities are providing a high-quality clinical service that meets our patients’ needs and ensuring that all patients are cared for safely, effectively and fairly.

Clinical governance creates a framework for monitoring whether we are achieving these goals and celebrating when we are successful. It also enables us to learn from any mistakes and identify why we might be falling short.

The Clinical Governance Committee

Our Clinical Governance Committee promotes clinical governance, makes sure that we remain committed to continuous improvement and is held accountable for quality.

The Committee meets every month to review:

  • Clinical audit
  • Risk management
  • Quality indicators, patient satisfaction and complaints
  • Research governance, projects and outcomes
  • Education and training
  • Accreditation

Our consultants

Every consultant that works here must apply for practising privileges. In order to gain and retain these, a consultant has to meet the following criteria:

  • General Medical Council (GMC) certificate
  • GMC specialist registration
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • Criminal Records Bureau clearance
  • Annual appraisals
  • Interview with the CEO and Medical Director
  • Approval by our Medical Advisory Committee

Medical Advisory Committee (MAC)

The Princess Grace Hospital Medical Advisory Committee meets once every 2 months to discuss the clinical and governance issues in the hospital in line with the Care Standards Act 2000. The Princess Grace MAC convenes to discuss applications to practice at the hospital, act as a mouth piece for all the consultants practicing and ensures that rigorous audit and clinical monitoring continues in the hospital to ensure and maintain the highest clinical standards.
